It was all about 'Stonkingly good finds' - or lack of them! A fab chat with Malcolm hinged on the fact that David Battie of 'Antiques Roadshow' fame was reported to have said that finds such as the above were far from regular on the show. Well David and the crew need to look in other areas I think as I regularly see 'sleepers' and items in sales reach dizzy prices! Maybe the format needs to change, as it did with dealers dealing with such items, as the internet unearths all kinds of treasures - and maybe Mr & Mrs Public just aren't taking them to the Roadshow as much these days? Either way - Malcolm and I both agreed that the majority of viewers probably couldn't relate to the 'Attic find' that pulls a £100,000 valuation. It's nice to see but maybe we need a more real view or take on the Antiques trade. More programmes reflecting dealers and their deals are needed I think - but I would say that wouldn't I? Hey - I'm off my soap box now to do more dealing so until next time!! x
